UNRWA condemns the attack
on a United Nations facility in Gaza
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) condemns the attack on a United Nations facility in Gaza on the morning of 1 January 2006 which included the beating of a UN guard by unknown assailants before they bombed the premises. UNRWA expresses its serious concern that for the first time in Gaza a UN facility has been deliberately attacked and considers it a grave escalation.
UNRWA takes note of the wide condemnation by the Palestinian Authority and leading figures and calls on the relevant officials to take the needed steps to prevent such attacks in the future and to apprehend those who carried out this treacherous act.
