Statement of
the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process
I am shocked and saddened at today’s suicide bombing in Netanya. I condemn this act of terrorism. No cause can justify the deliberate killing and maiming of civilians.
I send my deepest condolences to the families of the people who have been killed, as well as to the dozens who have been injured, and to the Government and people of Israel.
I have no doubt that whoever ordered and carried out this attack wants to undermine efforts to promote peace between Israelis and Palestinians. I hope that all concerned will not play into their hands.
