UNSCO statement on attack on kibbutz – UNSCO press release

STATEMENT BY MR. TERJE ROED-LARSEN,

UNITED NATIONS SPECIAL CO-ORDINATOR,

ON THE TERROR ATTACK IN NORTHERN ISRAEL

Jerusalem, November 11 — Mr. Terje Roed-Larsen, the United Nations Special Co-ordinator, was horrified today to learn of last night's terror attack on an Israeli kibbutz in which a Palestinian gunman killed five people, including a mother and her two children.

Mr. Larsen strongly condemns this murderous act as morally and ethically unacceptable.  Such actions, he said, also spur further hatred and mistrust between Israelis and Palestinians, which all too often leads to the deaths of innocent civilians.  Mr. Larsen urged all parties to exert maximum restraint to avoid entering a new stage in the bloody cycle of violence that has engulfed them for the past two years.
