PRRO 10387.1 – Protracted Relief Operation for Non-Refugee Palestinians

01 September 2007 – 31 August 2009

Under the PRRO, WFP supports over 650,000 of the most vulnerable and food-insecure non-refugee population in the West Bank and Gaza who have been affected by a steady decline of living standards.

• The pipeline for 188,000 of WFP’s most destitute beneficiaries will exhaust at the end of October. Contributions are needed now to avoid any pipeline breaks. Donors are urged to continue their support of this critical operation.

• WFP may have to consider further reduction in beneficiaries and programmes. WFP was already forced to cut assistance to 69,000 vulnerable food insecure in both Gaza in West Bank (FFW/T through the Ministry of Agriculture) because of lack of funding.

• The price of wheat flour and fuel increased by 98 percent and 91 percent, respectively, in the past year.Households in Gaza now spend 70 percent of their income on food (compared to 36 percent just over a year ago).
