New York, 23 September 2011 – Secretary-General's remarks to the press at the beginning of the Quartet meeting this afternoon

On President Abbas and these issues, I sent his application to the Security Council just half an hour ago. I am very pleased that the Quartet principals are meeting today. I hope we will be able to issue a Quartet statement right after this meeting and I sincerely hope that the parties will respond constructively to our statement.
