The Saudi Committee for the Relief of the Palestinian People donates medicines and medical supplies to Palestinian camps in Lebanon |
Beirut, 15 October 2008 – Supervised by His Royal Highness, Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, The Saudi Committee for the Relief of the Palestinian People donated medicines and medical supplies to Palestine refugees in Lebanon in the amount of (3,750,000) three million and seven hundred and fifty thousand Saudi Riyals, the equivalent of one million Dollars, within the framework of the humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom Saudi Arabia to help those affected by disasters and wars in various parts of the world. The agreement on the first batch of medicines and emergency medical supplies needed by Palestinian refugees in the camps was signed on October 15, 2008 in the presence of the representative of the Commissioner General of UNRWA Mr. Peter Ford, and the Chairman of the Saudi Committee for the Relief of the Palestinian People, Dr. Saed Al-Harithi. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the Saudi Committee for the Relief of the Palestinian People had agreed on the types and quantities of medicines upon signing a series of agreements between the two parties in Jeddah in July 2008. The main objective of these agreements was the distribution of medicines and urgent medical supplies to Palestine refugees in Lebanon. The first batch of medicines will be delivered to UNRWA central warehouses in Beirut to be distributed to Palestinian refugees in all the Palestinian camps in Lebanon. |
