Catherine Ashton to chair the Quartet Principals
meeting on 1 February in Munich
Catherine Ashton, European Union High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, will chair the Middle East Quartet Principals meeting on Saturday, February 1. She will be joined in the meeting, which takes place in the margins of the Munich Security Conference, by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergej Lavrov and Quartet Envoy Tony Blair.
Catherine Ashton said ahead of the meeting: "This meeting takes place in a moment when difficult and bold decisions need to be made. The dividends of peace for Israelis and Palestinians are enormous. I hope that together we can help those decisions to become a reality to continue working towards a negotiated peace agreement, setting an end to the conflict and fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of both parties."
