Ambassador Marc OTTE, European Union Special Representative to the Middle East Peace Process strongly condemns terrorist attack in Netanya
Marc OTTE, European Union Special Representative to the Middle East Peace Process, unequivocally condemns this morning horrible and cowardly attack against innocent civilians in Netanya.
He wishes to express his condolences to the bereaved families and to the Government of Israel, his heartfelt wishes for the full and speedy recovery of the injured and his solidarity with the Israeli people in this tragic hour.
This attack happened at a moment when Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the International Community have joined efforts to advance progress on movement and access following the Gaza withdrawal, to revive the Palestinian economy and to improve living conditions for all Palestinians. The European Union has recently made serious commitments to contribute significantly to that progress.
More than ever, all Palestinians have to follow the lead of the Palestinian Authority in making the strategic choice to renounce violence and terrorism and to advance on the road to peace through negotiations with Israel.
The European Union urges the Palestinian Authority to take immediate and concrete measures to crack down on groups and individuals bent on derailing such a process.
