Completion of Water Network Rehabilitation Project in Anata, Funded by Japan

Today, December 22, 2015, Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA, visited 'Anata to celebrate the completion of the rehabilitation of part of the water network project funded by the Government of Japan through Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

A grant of USD 101,049 was extended to Anata Local Council to secure sufficient tap water supply for the residents in the village who suffer from less water provision due to water leakages. The grant was used to replace old and temporary pipelines with new ones and the direct beneficiaries shall be around 1,985 residents (about 330 households).

In his speech, Mr. Okubo emphasized on Japan's firm commitment to enhancing the human security of Palestinians as well as on implementing the socioeconomic developmental projects that will lead to the empowerment of the Palestinian communities.

Since 1993, the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.6 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through MoPAD since 2010.
