Expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem
Spain reiterates that settlements built on the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem, are illegal under international law and represent an obstacle to peace. Spain considers that it is necessary at this time to foster a climate of trust that is essential for achieving the primordial goal of the international community to resume peace talks between the parties, with the aim of preserving the viability of a two-State solution. To that end, Spain calls on the Israeli authorities to reconsider these decisions that prejudice trust and prejudice the viability of a two-State solution.
