IHSANOGLU CONDEMNS SETTLEMENT IN JERUSALEM AND CALLS ON THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO ASSUME ITS RESPONSIBILITY
The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu strongly condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to approve the building of 1240 new settlement units in Al-Quds (Jerusalem). He stated that the policy of building and expanding Israeli settlements on the lands of the Palestinian state occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, is a flagrant violation of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
The Secretary General stressed that settlement expansion in Al-Quds is aimed at Judaizing the occupied Jerusalem and separating it from its Palestinian environs. He called on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take practical measures to stop these violations.
