Vladimir Putin met with head of the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmoud Abbas.
At the beginning of the conversation the President of Russia expressed his support for Mahmoud Abbas, the legitimate leader of the Palestinian people. The Russian head of state emphasised that Russia believes in restoring the unity of the Palestinian people and has consistently advocated protecting the legitimate interests of Palestinians, including through the creation of a Palestinian state.
In turn Mahmoud Abbas said that Palestinian authorities continue to do everything possible to ensure that the inhabitants of their country benefit from minimum living standards and called on all of his country’s friends to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people, including those living in the Gaza Strip.
