1. HIGHLIGHT
· Since 25 January the Logistics Cluster has dispatched 1980 pallets of cargo to the Gaza Strip through Kerem Shalom border crossing, for 22 cluster members.
· The preliminary list of priority items for transport by the Logistics Cluster in to the Gaza Strip was compiled according to sector and shared with COGAT on 04 February. The list will be updated regularly to reflect humanitarian needs in Gaza. On 05 February items in the list under the categories of Basic Shelter, Teaching Aids and Recreational Kits were refused clearance for crossing at Kerem Shalom. The Logistics Cluster is following up with COGAT.
· On 10 February all crossings to Gaza will be closed, due to Israeli elections.
2. BORDER CROSSING:
· Sufa: Remained closed
· Rafa: Open 04 and 05 February; Closed 06 February
· Kerem Shalom: Open 04 – 06 February
· Karni: Open 04 and 05 February (conveyor belt only)
· El Aouga (Egypt): Closed on 04 February and 06; Open on 05 February
· Erez: Open 04 and 05 February (for medical evacuation and international personnel crossing)
· Since the Logistics Cluster began transportation on 25 January 2009 the following cargo has been dispatched through Kerem Shalom:

3. LOGISTICS COORDINATION:
· A UN Cell (UNJGECC) has been established to coordinate humanitarian assistance destined for Gaza through Jordan, led by UNRWA. The Cell will work closely with the Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza to make sure relief items reflect humanitarian priorities on the ground. For further information contact Tim Henry at UNRWA (t.henry@unrwa.org) or Mohammad Nasser Al-Kilani at JHCO (jhco@wanadoo.jo).
· Logistics Cluster staffing update: Logistics Officers Bo Andren (Bo.Andren@wfp.org) and Dirk Winterscheid (Dirk.Winterscheid@wfp.org) will replace Baptiste Bernard and Laurent Blanc.
4. CIVIL/MILITARY COORDINATION:
· The meeting scheduled for 05 February between COGAT and the PA to discuss ways to improve the operating capacity of Kerem Shalom has been postponed indefinitely.
· COGAT is still in the process of reviewing the clearance of chlorine purification tablets for CHF. Chlorine is one of the items on the WASH list for priority transportation to Gaza.
