Indonesia Foreign Minister expresses concerns over nations halting aid to PA – Indonesian Foreign Ministry press release/Non-UN document

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia : Indonesia Expresses Concerns Over the Palestinian National Authority Financial Crisis 

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. N. Hassan Wirajuda, expresses  Indonesia's concerns over the decision taken by certain nations halting financial support to Palestinian National Authority.  In this matter, Indonesia is very keen to take a more active role in supporting Palestine in their peace process and help find solutions to end Palestine financial crisis. Those statements were addressed by Minister Dr. N. Hassan Wirajuda as part of a joint press statement with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Palestinian National Authority, Dr. Mahmoud Al Zahar, Friday, May 26 2006 in Gedung Pancasila. 

The official visit of Minister Al Zahar is in line with Palestine diplomacy to win the support of internasional community, Arabic countries, and Islamic countries in in facing the unjust besiege which is imposed by Israel, such besiege which had endangered the basic human daily needs including food, medicine and badly hindered the transfer of necessary funds for the civil servants and the vulnerable sectors of the Palestinian society. 

Also in the joint press conference, Minister Dr. N. Hassan Wirajuda congratulates the Palestine National Authority for the success of holding a open, honest, fair and democratic general election on January this year.  Indonesia believes that the democratic process will eventually lead to independent Palestine.  Minister Dr. N. Hassan Wirajuda also re affirmed Indonesia's consistent support toward the Palestinian struggle for independence.  Indonesia' support for independence is in line with the Indonesian constitution stating that Independence is the right of every nation.  Indonesia also supports the initiative made by Presiden Mahmoud Abbas for a dialog and emphasize the importance of unity of Palestine national.
