Syrian Students mobilize in support of Gaza
On 13th of January students in all government and UNRWA schools Syria stood together in a solemn show of support to their fellow students in Gaza who have died or who are suffering because of the conflict.
The campaign, 'For the Children of Gaza', has a very simple message; that the children of Syria say 'no' to violence and the unnecessary and wasteful loss of young life.
The school event aimed to provide young people with an opportunity to express their grief and frustration in a way that would draw greater international attention to the catastrophic humanitarian impact that this conflict is having on the people of Gaza.
The climax of the half-hour event was at precisely eighteen minutes past midday, when students across the country fell silent for one minute to remember those civilians who have lost their life in Gaza; eighteen was chosen as a poignant, stirring reminder that the conflict had now, tragically, moved into its eighteenth day.
