Japan Continues its Support for a Psychosocial Care Program
in Hebron Implemented by a Japanese NGO
On February 20th, 2014, the Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and the Representative of Japan to the Palestinian Authority, Mr. Junya Matsuura and Ms. Sae Imamura, the Representative of Peace Builders, a Japanese NGO, signed the grant contract for the Program for Developing the Educational Network in Civil Society for Improving Psychosocial Care of Youth in Hebron. This project is funded by the Government of Japan through its Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects, with a total amount of USD 279,402 approximately.
Through this project, Peace Builders will continue to train teachers and social workers who are working in Hebron City through holding workshops regarding rights and mentality of youth as well as to enhance their capacity to hold and organize workshops for psychosocial care for youth, who are stressed out due to the unstable political situation.
Mr. Matsuura expressed his hope that the targeted teachers and social workers will further enhance their capacity with transferred knowledge and experience through Peace Builders' project and enable them to enrich their activities in Hebron. in addition to help the Palestinian children, who are living under difficult political situation, to maintain hope for their future and develop their capacity.
Government of Japan has been always supporting Palestinian communities to improve the education sector, health and many other sectors. Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance exceeding $1.4 billion, to the Palestinians.
