Grant Signing Ceremony for three GGP Projects in Palestine
Funded by Japan

Grant Contracts for three GGP projects were signed today by Mr. Junya Matsuura, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA, and the representatives of the three grantee local authorities at the Representative Office of Japan in Ramallah for a total amount of US$ 300,642.

Grants will be allocated for rehabilitating and upgrading the electricity network in Beit Dajan, for rehabilitating the water network in Anata, and for constructing additional classrooms in Halema Sa'deah Girls School in Yatta.

Mr. Matsuura congratulated the three local authorities and wished them success. He emphasized Japan's firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.

Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.5 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through MoPAD since 2010.
