UNRWA wins award from online peace network

UNRWA’s Peace Starts Here campaign has won the 2010 “Possibilities” award from the groundbreaking online peace network MEpeace, as part of their annual peacemakers awards. UNRWA is proud to have received this recognition for its multimedia micro-site.

The site – www.peacestartshere.org – invites visitors into the lives of Palestine refugees. A series of short films from UNRWA's five fields of operation offer a personal perspective, highlighting stories of perseverance and creativity in the face of the most challenging circumstances.

One of the main aims of the campaign is to create a real emotional bond and to provoke discussion in online forums and social networks about Palestine refugees. As MEpeace describes: “the project leverages new media for new narratives, encouraging possibilities for conflict resolution.”

UNRWA spokesperson Chris Gunness said: "It's great that the creative work of UNRWA's communications team is being recognised and rewarded. But ultimately this about putting the spotlight on a forgotten population, Palestine refugees, humanising them and celebrating our community. I urge everyone to go to www.peacestartshere and see for themselves."

SocDoc Studios, a documentary film and social media production and consulting company, produced the campaign and films in partnership with UNRWA.

الأونروا تفوز بجائزة من شبكة السلام عبر الانترنت 

 فازت حملة "السلام يبدأ هنا" الخاصة بالاونروا  بجائزة (امكانيات) للعام 2010 على موقع السلام الرائد عبر شبكة الانترنت MEpeace، كجزء من جوائزهم السنوية لصانعي السلام.

وقد عبرت الاونروا عن اعتزازها بهذه الجائزة وبهذا الاعتراف والتقدير الذي حصل عليه موقع السلام يبدأ هنا الخاص بها، والذي هو موقعا الكترونيا جديدا متعدد الوسائط يهدف تسليط الضوء على معاناة ما يقرب من خمسة ملايين لاجئ فلسطيني مسجلين لديها.
 

الموقع  org.peacestartshere www.   يدعو الزوار للتعرف اكثر على حياة اللاجئين الفلسطينيين، من خلال عرضه لسلسلة من الأفلام القصيرة التي صورت في أقاليم العمليات الخمسة التي تعمل الأونروا فيها، وتقدم اللاجئين الفلسطينيين من منظور شخصي وذلك من خلال تسليط الضوء على قصص المثابرة والإبداع في مواجهة أصعب الظروف.

إن أحد أهداف هذه الحملة هو خلق ارتباط عاطفي حقيقي وإثارة النقاشات عبر المنتديات الالكترونية والشبكات الاجتماعية بخصوص اللاجئين الفلسطينيين. وكما يصفه موقع MEpeace، "هذا المشروع يستخدم وسائل الاعلام والاتصالات الجديدة  لسرد قصص مختلفة وبطريقة جديدة."

 وقد صرح المتحدث الرسمي باسم الاونروا كريس غنيس "انه لشيء عظيم أن يتم تقدير هذا العمل الإبداعي الذي قام به فريق الاعلام والاتصالات بالاونروا ومكافئته من قبل الناس، ولكن الأهم من ذلك ان هذا الموقع يسلط الضوء على اللاجئين الفلسطينين، وعلى تحفيز حوار عالمي حول هذه القضية المنسية غالبا ،  وأنا أحث جميع الناس على زيارة هذا الموقع www.peacestartshere.org  والتعرف عليه أفضل بأنفسهم ".

 ويذكر أن استوديوهات سوك دوك، وهي شركة استشارات وإنتاج أفلام وثائقية ومواد إعلامية اجتماعية، هي التي قامت بإنتاج الحملة والأفلام بالشراكة مع الأونروا.

تعمل الأونروا على تقديم المساعدة وتوفير الحماية وكسب التأييد لحوالي 4,7 مليون لاجئ فلسطيني مسجلون لديها في الأردن ولبنان وسورية والأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة إلى أن يتم التوصل لحل من أجل محنتهم. وتشتمل خدمات الوكالة على التعليم والرعاية الصحية وشبكة الأمان الاجتماعي والبنية التحتية وتحسين المخيمات والدعم المجتمعي والإقراض الصغير والاستجابة الطارئة، بما في ذلك في أوقات النزاعات المسلحة.
