Grant Signing Ceremony for Two GGP Projects in Palestine
Funded by Japan

Grant Contracts for two GGP projects were signed today by Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA, and the representatives from Society of In'ash Al Usra, and Sebastiya Municipality at the Representative Office of Japan in Ramallah for a total amount of US$ 178,600.

Society of In'ash Al Usra received a grant of US$ 90,748 that they will use for the construction of an additional floor with 4 classrooms to provide safe and adequate training environment and expand the vocational training center's capacity for women trainees.

The US$ 87,852 granted for Sebastiya Municipality will be used to improve the electricity provision and the residential environment in the community by rehabilitating the old naked electricity network.

Mr. Okubo congratulated the grantees and wished them success in their projects. He emphasized Japan's firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.

Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.6 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through MoPAD since 2010. (End)
