Mubarak: Withdrawal from Gaza should be part of roadmap
President Hosni Mubarak underlined Wednesday the need that the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza should be part of the roadmap peace plan.
"We accordingly offered to train Palestinian cadres to maintain security and halt continued violence operations President Mubarak told reporters.
"We are resolved to do so," he added.
With the help of the US, the President said that we agreed on this topic, which will not only cover Gaza, but could be extended to cover the West Bank.
"We do not mind at all if other countries are interested in giving a hand in this respect," President Mubarak added.
Replying to a question on coordination with the US on the security agreement, President Mubarak said "the American side would take part with us and we must take guarantees to secure our men’.
"We have an agreement with the US, Israeli and Palestinian sides to protect our forces which will undertake this training,'' President Mubarak said.
"Our forces are not combat troops to fight anybody," the President said.
"These forces are for working out plans to train the citizens,” he added.
