Statements

MAJDI RAMADAN ( Lebanon)…

… Creating an enabling environment conducive to the advancement of women required special attention to women in conflict situations and under foreign occupation.  In that regard, Israel, the occupying power of Arab lands, should be held accountable for its obligations under humanitarian law, human rights law and international law…

/…

WARIF HALABI ( Syria)…

Syria had also implemented a number of programmes to assist women living in occupied territories … However, the international community should do more to respect and honour their commitments to women living in occupied territories in the Syrian Golan Heights and in Palestine.  The limited resources that were available for those suffering under occupation were quickly diminishing.  More efforts should be made to build a fair peace in those regions, to help reduce the suffering of all those living under occupation, and women, in particular.

/…

NAJWA AL-SERRI (Yemen)…

… Touching briefly on the subject of women living in occupied territories, she called on the international community to provide greater support for women suffering under occupation, specifically Palestinian and Arab women in that situation.
