PRESS RELEASE
Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov Speaks to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan by Telephone
A telephone conversation took place on March 14 between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, during which Annan was informed of the outcome of the visit to Moscow of the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Walid Muallem.
An exchange of views on a range of issues relating to Middle East settlement also took place. Lavrov and Annan expressed serious concern over the alarming developments in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The necessity was stressed of coordinated work by the Middle East Quartet to surmount the crisis and resume the peace process.
