Mideast situation – UNTSO supplemental information – SecGen report

Supplementary information received by the Secretary-General

1. The Chief of Staff of UNTSO reports that for the twenty-four-hour period ending at 1000 hours GMT on 21 June the situation has continued to remain generally quiet.

2. General Bull reports having received the following message from the Officer in Charge Tiberias at 0906 hours GMT on 21 June:

"Sitrep at 0756 hours GMT.  Two APCs and approx 50 soldiers moving eastwards at approx MR 2258-2959."

3. General Bull reports that the Chairman of the Israel-Syria Mixed Armistice Commission sent a message to the Officer in Charge Tiberias at 1024 hours GMT on 21 June as follows:

"Message for Senior Israel Representative.  UN Observers report two Israel APCs and approximately 50 soldiers moving eastwards at approximately map reference 2258-2959.  Subsequent to this movement they have reported two explosions and LMG fire in this general area.  I note with concern that these troops are approximately 800 metres east of the proposed Israel cease-fire line and request your immediate assistance to have them withdrawn behind this line.  Further request your co-operation to ensure that the conditions of the cease-fire are strictly enforced."
