Letter dated 24 February 1998 from the Permanent Representative of
Tunisia to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General
In my capacity as Chairman of the Arab Group for February 1998 and on behalf of the members of the League of Arab States, I am writing with reference to the summary statement by the Secretary-General on matters of which the Security Council is seized and on the stage reached in their consideration (document S/1998/44 of 9 January 1998). Pursuant to a decision taken by the Arab Group, I have the honour to request you to retain the items listed hereunder in the agenda of the Security Council.
1. The Palestine question.
12. Arrangements for the proposed Peace Conference on the Middle East.
17. The Middle East problem, including the Palestinian question.
18. Request by the Libyan Arab Republic and Pakistan for consideration of the serious situation arising from recent developments in the occupied Arab territories (S/12017).
20. The question of the exercise by the Palestinian people of its inalienable rights.
I should be grateful if you would have this letter circulated as a document of the General Assembly, under agenda items 36, 37 and 87, and of the Security Council.
