Situation in the OATs/SecCo requires the parties strictly to observe the cease-fire – SecCo President statement

At the 1448th meeting, on 8 September 1968, the President read the following statement which was to be communicated to the Chief of Staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization and the parties:

"The Security Council, having met urgently to consider the item on its agenda contained in document S/Agenda/1448/Rev.1 [The situation in the Middle East: Letter dated 2 September 1968 from the Acting Permanent Representative of Israel addressed to the President of the Security Council (S/8794);1/ Letter dated 8 September 1968 from the Permanent Representative of Israel addressed to the President of the Security Council (S/8805);2/ Letter dated 8 September 1968 from the Permanent Representative of the United Arab Republic addressed to the President of the Security Council (S/8806)3/], having heard the reports of General Odd Bull presented by the Secretary-General, and having heard the statements of the representatives of Israel and the United Arab Republic, deeply regrets the loss of life, and requires the parties strictly to observe the cease-fire called for by the Security Council's resolutions."
