Mideast situation/Lebanon- Israeli violations – Letter from Lebanon

Letter dated 10 June 2002 from the Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the

Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations addressed
to the Secretary-General

On instructions from my Government, I have the honour to transmit to you herewith a statistical table showing the number of Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty during the month of May 2002 (see annex).

These Israeli violations and acts of aggression against Lebanese sovereignty by air, land and sea constitute violations of the Blue Line and of Security Council resolution 425 (1978) and represent a threat to stability in the region by spreading an atmosphere of tension.

I should be grateful if you would have this letter circulated as a document of the General Assembly, under agenda item 42, and of the Security Council.

(Signed) Houssam Asaad Diab
Chargé d’affaires a.i.
