Situation of human rights in southern Lebanon and the western Bekaa
Report of the Secretary-General
1. At its fifty-first session the Commission on Human Rights adopted resolution 1995/67, entitled "Situation of human rights in southern Lebanon and the western Bekaa". In paragraph 6 of the resolution, the Commission requested the Secretary-General (a) to bring the resolution to the attention of the Government of Israel and to invite it to provide information concerning the extent of its implementation thereof, and (b) to report to the General Assembly at its fiftieth session and to the Commission on Human Rights at its fifty-second session on the results of his efforts in this regard.
2. In accordance with this request, the Secretary-General addressed on 15 May 1995 a note verbale to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Israel requesting information concerning the extent of the implementation of the resolution.
3. No reply had been received at the time of the preparation of the present report.
