Letter dated 15 April 1988 from the Permanent Representative of

Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General

On instructions from my Government and further to our previous letters concerning the repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, I have the honour to inform you that, on Thursday, 15 April 1988, troops from the so-called "South Lebanon Army", which is Israeli-controlled, stormed the village of Srifa in southern Lebanon outside the Israeli-occupied "security zone" and dynamited a house with the three occupants inside, which resulted in the death of all three under the rubble. At dawn today, other troops from the "South Lebanon Army" stormed the village of Qabrikha outside the so-called  "security zone" and blew up another house. So far no information is available about the injuries resulting from this attack.

The Lebanese Government once again vehemently condemns these bloody attacks on peaceful Lebanese villages, which take the lives of whole families and destroy property, and sees in the last two incidents a fresh escalation of Israeli practices aimed at inflicting as much injury as possible on civilian inhabitants without the slightest regard for humanitarian and legal principles and international custom. It also sees in this an aggravation of the already disrupted situation in  the south due to the continuation of Israel's occupation and the practices of its forces and agents there.

I request you to have this letter circulated as an official document of the General Assembly, under item 40 of the preliminary list, and of the Security Council.

(Signed)  Rachid FAKHOURY
