Letter dated 2 November 1990 from the Permanent Representative of
Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General
On instructions from my Government, and further to our previous letters on the repeated Israeli acts of aggression against Lebanese territory, I have the honour to inform you that Israel has committed a further act of aggression against Lebanon, the sixteenth such act this year.
At 1.30 p.m., on Thursday, 1 November 1990, four Israel Air Force F-16 planes attacked the village of Majdal Balhis (in the region of Rashayya al-Wadi in the western Bekaa), subject it to heavy bombardment, which resulted in three dead and a number of wounded, destroyed a two storey building and another building next to it, and inflicted heavy damage on over 20 houses.
The Government of Lebanon protests against and vigorously condemns this act of aggression and denounces the continuation of these aggressive acts, which are directed against the sovereignty of Lebanon and the inviolability of its airspace and territory and constitute a flagrant violation of international charters and norms and show disdain for the life and security of the public.
I should be grateful if you would have this letter circulated as an official document of the General Assembly, under agenda item 35, and of the Security Council.
(Signed) Khalil MAKKAWI
Permanent Representative
