Mr. AMMARIN (Jordan) introduced draft resolution E/1998/L.26 entitled "Economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem, and the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan" and announced that Malaysia had joined the sponsors. The text was essentially the same as the one adopted at the previous session, and, in the light of the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, he hoped that it could be adopted with the widest possible support.
