Addendum
Pursuant to rule 11 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the Secretary-General is submitting the following summary statement.

The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 5233rd (private) meeting, held on 25 July 2005 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations.
At the close of the meeting, in accordance with rule 55 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the following communiqué was issued through the Secretary-General in place of a verbatim record:
“On 25 July 2005, the Security Council, pursuant to annex II, sections A and B, of resolution 1353 (2001), held its 5233rd meeting in private with the troop-contributing countries to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
“The Security Council and the troop-contributing countries heard a statement by Lisa Buttenheim, Director of the Asia and Middle East Division of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, and a briefing by Major General Alain Pellegrini, Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, under rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure.
“Members of the Council, Ms. Buttenheim, Major General Pellegrini and representatives of participating troop-contributing countries had a constructive exchange of views.”

The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 5241st meeting, held on 29 July 2005 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations, having before it the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (S/2005/460).
The President drew attention to a draft resolution (S/2005/491) submitted by France, Greece, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America.
The Security Council proceeded to vote on draft resolution S/2005/491, and adopted it unanimously as resolution 1614 (2005) (for the text, see S/RES/1614 (2005); to be issued in Official Records of the Security Council, Resolutions and Decisions of the Security Council, 1 August 2004-31 July 2005 ).
