QUESTION OF THE VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE

OCCUPIED ARAB TERRITORIES, INCLUDING PALESTINE

Letter dated 11 March 1998 from the Permanent Observer

of Palestine to the United Nations Office at Geneva

addressed to the High Commissioner for Human Rights

1. I refer to my previous letter [see E/CN.4/1998/133] concerning the new massacre committed by the Israeli occupation authorities which called the life of three Palestinians and wounded nine others, some of whom are seriously injured; I would like to bring to your attention that the Israeli occupation authorities have opened fire today on Palestinian citizens in the city of Hebron as well as in its surroundings, and have wounded 40 Palestinian civilians.

2. By so doing, the Israeli occupation forces are repeating every day their crimes of massacres perpetrated against the Palestinian people.

3. I would be grateful to you if you could have this memorandum distributed as an official document to the members of the upcoming fifty-fourth session of the Commission on Human Rights under item 4 of its agenda.

(Signed)  Nabil RAMLAWI
