Letter dated 24 September 1990 from the Permanent Observer
of Palestine to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General
I am instructed by the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which has the powers and responsibilities of the Provisional Government of Palestine, to bring the following to your immediate attention:
This morning the Israeli occupation forces are still continuing the crime of demolishing residences of Palestinians in the refugee camps of Bureij and other refugee camps in the Gaza area.
According to the Israeli press, 200 such residences will be demolished by the occupation forces and hundreds of Palestinians will be evicted from the refugee camps.
Further to our letter to you dated 21 September 1990 (A/45/532-S/21809), we wish to inform you that, on Saturday,
22 September 1990, Israeli soldiers attacked women in the refugee camp of Bureij. The policy of bone-breaking has been reactivated. The all-out brutal policy against Palestinians has spread to all the occupied Palestinian territory in the Abu Thor quarter of Jerusalem, against the Ittihad hospital in Nablus, and in the refugee camps in Balata, Nablus, and Jabalia, Gaza.
Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross as well as those of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) are, so far, prevented from entering those areas which have been declared a "military zone".
The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization calls upon the Secretary-General and the members of the Security Council to take immediate action, including the convening of a meeting of the Security Council, with a view to taking measures to put an end to such brutal action by Israel, the occupying Power, and to providing international protection to the Palestinians under Israeli occupation pending a just solution to the Palestine question in conformity with the relevant United Nations resolutions.
I should be grateful if you would arrange to have the text of the present letter circulated as an official document of the General Assembly, under items 23, 35 and 75, and of the Security Council.
