Summary statement by the Secretary-General on matters of
which the Security Council is seized and on the stage reached
in their consideration
Addendum
Pursuant to rule 11 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the Secretary-General wishes to submit the list of items of which the Security Council is currently seized. The last full summary statement (S/2008/10) was issued on 11 January 2008. The last weekly addendum (S/2008/10/Add.3) covered developments up to 26 January 2008.
As the present addendum is the first to be issued in February 2008, it contains, pursuant to the note by the President of the Security Council dated 19 December 2007 (S/2007/749), a full, updated list of items of which the Security Council is seized. The next full, updated list of items of which the Security Council is seized will be contained in the first addendum issued in March 2008. In intervening weeks, in the interest of economy, the Secretary-General, in fulfilment of his responsibility under rule 11 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, will issue a weekly addendum to the summary statement listing only those items on which further action was taken by the Council during the previous week or indicating that there was no change during that period.
The following list sets out the items of which the Security Council is currently seized. Pursuant to the note by the President of the Security Council dated 19 December 2007 (S/2007/749), the list indicates the date on which each item was first taken up by the Council at a formal meeting, and the date of the most recent formal Council meeting held on that item.

Set out below are the items on which the Security Council took action during the week ending 2 February 2008. The dates given for each item indicate when the item was first taken up by the Council at a formal meeting, and the most recent formal Council meeting held on that item.
The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question
(3 October 2000; 30 January 2008)
The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 5827th meeting, held on 30 January 2008. The Council, under rule 37 of its provisional rules of procedure, invited the representatives of Israel, Lebanon and the Syrian Arab Republic, at their request, to participate in the consideration of the item without the right to vote. Under rule 39 of its provisional rules of procedure, the Council extended an invitation to B. Lynn Pascoe, Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs.
In response to the request contained in a letter dated 22 January 2008 from the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council (S/2008/51), the President, in accordance with the rules of procedure and the previous practice in this regard, invited the Permanent Observer of Palestine to participate in the meeting.
