Despite its preoccupation with the internal situation, the Government was seeking to regain its position as a regional and international actor and was working with friends and the international community towards a Palestinian State with Jerusalem as its capital. It stood by the people of Lebanon as they tried to recover from the recent Israeli aggression.

Finally, under agenda item 40, Lebanon supported the permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the Syrian Golan over its natural resources. Lebanon also stressed its inalienable right to its water resources.
