Letter dated 21 February 2001 from the Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the
Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General
My Government completely rejects the Palestinian allegations regarding the use of depleted uranium as contained in the letter addressed to you dated 1 February 2001 (A/55/760-S/2001/98).
I wish to stress in the clearest possible language that these allegations are baseless and completely false. Israel does not use such ammunition and any suggestions to the contrary have absolutely no basis in reality.
I should be grateful if you would arrange to have the text of the present letter circulated as a document of the General Assembly, under agenda item 40, and of the Security Council.
(Signed) Aaron Jacob
