Situation of human rights in southern Lebanon
Report of the Secretary-General
1. At its forty-ninth session the Commission on Human Rights adopted resolution 1993/67, entitled "Situation of human rights in southern Lebanon". In paragraph 6 of the resolution, the Commission requested the Secretary-General (a) to inform the Government of Israel of the resolution and call upon it to provide information concerning the extent of its compliance therewith and (b) to report to the General Assembly at its forty-eighth session and to the Commission on Human Rights at its fiftieth session on the results of his endeavours in that regard.
2. In accordance with this request, the Secretary-General addressed on 2 April 1993 a note verbale to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Israel requesting information concerning the extent of the implementation of the resolution.
3. No reply had been received at the time of the preparation of the present report.
