Statement by Kuwait concerning the declaration
of an independent Palestinian State
Proceeding from its absolute determination and firm and principled commitment to support the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian Arab people, the State of Kuwait, in supporting and endorsing the resolution – adopted by the Palestine National Council during the historic meeting of its nineteenth session, held in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria from 12 to 14 November 1988 – to proclaim the independent Palestinian State, announces its recognition of that Palestinian State, with Al-Quds al-Sharif (Jerusalem the holy) as its capital, in the hope that the State will fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the fraternal Palestinian people with respect to the establishment of its independent national statehood on its national soil.
