192. As of 29 February 1995, there were 7,816 refugees in Egypt, the majority of whom were Somalis and Sudanese, with an additional group of 186 stateless persons and 16 Bidoons (ex-Kuwait). The Palestinians expelled from the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya in late 1995 and stranded at Salloum on the border with Egypt have been assisted by UNHCR. There are currently 179 persons living under difficult conditions in the border area. UNHCR has been liaising closely with all parties concerned to address the situation to determine an appropriate course of action.
