Summary statement by the Secretary-General on matters of which
the Security Council is seized and on the stage reached in their consideration
1. Pursuant to rule 11 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the Secretary-General wishes to submit hereunder the list of items of which the Security Council is currently seized, with references in parentheses to the previous summary statements that have been issued covering consideration of each item. 1
2. It will be recalled that, in the interest of economy, the Secretary-General reproduces only once annually the full, up-to-date list of items of which the Security Council is seized. In fulfilment of his responsibility under rule 11, an addendum to the basic list is issued weekly, making reference to those items on which further action has been taken by the Council during the week covered or indicating that there has been no change during that period.
3. The last full summary statement (S/2001/15) was issued on 19 March 2001. The last weekly addendum (S/2001/15/Add.52) covered developments up to 29 December 2001.
4. During the period since the last full summary statement, the Security Council included the following item in the agenda of its 4337th meeting, held in private on 27 June 2001, and concluded its consideration of the item at the same meeting:
“Recommendation for the appointment of the Secretary-General of the United Nations” (see S/2001/15/Add.26).
5. Also during this period, the Security Council included the following item in the agenda of its 4345th meeting, held on 5 July 2001, and concluded its consideration of the item at the same meeting:
“Date of election to fill a vacancy in the International Court of Justice” (see S/2001/15/Add.27).
6. Also during this period, the Security Council included the following item in the agenda of its 4375th meeting, held on 18 September 2001, and concluded its consideration of the item at the same meeting:

8. 9. Subsequently, in accordance with the procedure set out in document S/1996/704, Member States notified the Secretary-General of their wish to have items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31, 37 and 50 above retained on the list of matters of which the Security Council is seized. In the absence of any further notification by a Member State submitted by 30 April 2001 requesting the retention of an item listed in paragraph 8 above, the remaining items mentioned therein, that is, items 38, 41, 42, 48, 49, 62, 66, 67, 68 and 69, were deleted from the list of matters of which the Security Council is seized.
10. 11. 12. In the absence of any notification by a Member State submitted by 30 April 2002 requesting the retention of an item listed in paragraph 10 above (with the exception of items 2, 3 and 8 mentioned in paragraph 11 above), those items will be deleted from the list of matters of which the Security Council is seized.
