Ministry of Health Celebrates the Handing-over of Improving
 the Infrastructure of the Medical Equipment Projects funded by Japan

Ramallah: on Monday June 22, 2015, Ministry of Health celebrated the handing-over of the projects for improving the infrastructure of medical equipment in the Palestinian Health Sector, funded by the Japanese government, in the meeting hall at Palestine Medical Complex (PMC).

H.E. Dr. Jawad Awad, Minister of Health, attended the ceremony with H.E. Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA and Governor of Ramallah, Dr. Layla Ghannam.

"Japan is committed to supporting and improving the standards of living for the Palestinian people. Improving the public health will enhance the people's well-being, thus contribute to the social and economic development that is the integral part of the nation building process." said Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the Palestinian Authority.

On the other hand, Dr. Jawad Awad thanked the Japanese government and People for their support, stating that Japan has a big role in supporting the Palestinian Health Sector. "Those projects will contribute in developing the health sector plus improving the health services provided to Palestinian citizens" he added.

The Japanese government has extended two grants for the Ministry of Health; first one is the project for the development of medical equipment in the Palestinian hospitals, and the other one is the project for providing industrial products financed by donation from the affected cities in Japan, where the unprecedented scale of earthquake and Tsunami struck in March 2011.

Under those two projects, the medical checkups in the governmental hospitals are upgraded through providing the most sophisticated equipment; such as MRI, Lithotripsy systems and other important devices for the first time. It is noteworthy that the government hospitals have been equipped with such a hi-tech medical devices. In addition, CT scanners, dialysis machines, X ray machines, respiratory systems, incubators and others have been provided for Tulkarem, Qalqilya and Ramallah hospitals, which made it possible for the ministry to drastically cut down the expenses.
