Spain strongly condemns attack on synagogue in Jerusalem – Spanish Foreign Ministry statement/Non-UN document

OFFICIAL STATEMENT 335

Attack on a Synagogue in Jerusalem

Spain strongly condemns the brutal attack carried out today on a synagogue in Jerusalem, during which four worshippers were killed and many others were injured.

18/11/2014

The expressions of praise and congratulations published by certain organisations and individuals following this deplorable act are equally abhorrent to any sense of humanity and deserving of the Spanish Government's outright condemnation.

The Government of Spain reiterates its rejection of any act or declaration that directly or indirectly incites violence, which jeopardise the prospects for peace and promote animosity between communities.

Spain calls on all parties concerned to make every effort to halt the senseless spiral of violence that is currently affecting the region, especially the city of Jerusalem.
