  The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 5175th meeting, held on 4 May 2005 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations, having before it the first semi-annual report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of Security Council resolution 1559 (2004) (S/2005/272).

  The President stated that, following consultations of the Council, he had been authorized to make a statement on behalf of the Council and read out the text of that statement (for the text, see S/PRST/2005/17; to be issued in Official Records of the Security Council, Resolutions and Decisions of the Security Council, 1 August 2004-31 July 2005 ).
