The President: The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations.
Members of the Council have before them two letters from the Secretary-General addressed to the President of the Security Council, dated 6 and 17 April 2000, respectively, and contained in documents S/2000/294 and S/2000/322.
I should like to draw the attention of the members of the Council to document S/2000/295, letter dated 6 April 2000 from the Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the United Nations transmitting a letter of the same date from the President of the Lebanese Republic addressed to the Secretary-General.
Following consultations among members of the Security Council, I have been authorized to make the following statement on behalf of the Council:
This statement will be issued as a document of the Security Council under the symbol S/PRST/2000/13.
The Security Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its agenda.
