Climate Summit 2026

On 23 September 2026, UN Secretary-General António Guterres convened leaders from government, business, finance, civil society and other sectors to accelerate climate action and advance a just transition.

Meeting amid growing climate impacts and uncertainty around the global economy and energy security, leaders discussed how to turn existing climate commitments into faster, stronger action. They highlighted the need to scale up solutions that are already available, accelerate the transition to clean energy, expand access to affordable climate finance and strengthen communities’ resilience to climate impacts. Leaders also stressed that international cooperation remains essential, even in a divided world.

The Climate Summit marked a call for countries and partners to work together to overcome barriers, close gaps and deliver greater progress towards limiting global warming and protecting people and livelihoods. Ahead of the Summit, the Secretary-General announced new initiatives to accelerate progress on clean energy, critical minerals and early warning systems.
