World Diabetes Day celebrated at the Ibn Tofail University of Kenitra, Morocco

16 November 2018The Ibn Tofail University (ITU), member institution of the UNAI, and the Moroccan League for the Fight against Diabetes organized on the 9th and 10th of November a two days event celebrating World Diabetes Day under this year's theme Family and Diabetes. Amongst the many purposes of the event, the organizers focused on raising awareness around diabetes among the general public and patients of the disease as well as emphasizing on the importance of prevention.

NYU Shanghai hosts second annual Model UN Conference

21 November 2018 - New York University Shanghai, a member institution of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), hosted its second annual Model United Nations Conference in Shanghai, China, on 2-4 November 2018.

Following the success of the first annual conference, the NYU Shanghai Model United Nations Conference 2018 is the largest student-led event in the history of NYU Shanghai. A record number of over 200 participants served as as delegates, chairs, secretariats, directorates and administration staff, under the leadership of Secretary-General Justin Wang and his secretariat team.

ASPIRE Chapter of East Stroudsburg Opens Conversation on Mental Health

20 November 2018 - The United Nations ASPIRE chapter of East Stroudsburg put the Sustainable Development Goal on good health and well-being into action to make a positive impact upon their community, through their panel discussion titled Mental Health Matters.

Recognizing the need to promote dialogue around mental health, ASPIRE students and their advisers Michael Healey and Dr. Michele Vella, PhD., developed this interactive panel discussion at the Historic Dansbury Depot.

Over 60 students attended this discussion. They were given the opportunity to interact with experts in the field of Mental Health including Dr. Kim Baranowski, PhD., Associate Director Mt. Sinai Center for Human Rights, Columbia University Teachers College, and Denise Carey, LCSW, as well as their adviser Dr. Vella, a Licensed Counseling Psychologist.

UNAI announces its inaugural class of SDG Hubs: Connecting universities and colleges with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

24 October 2018United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) is pleased to announce our new SDG Hubs, UNAI members selected as exemplars for their innovative engagement related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Institutions have been designated for three-year renewable terms and will serve as resources for best practices for the UNAI network, currently composed of over 1,300 universities and colleges in some 140 Member States.

UNAI is an initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in supporting and contributing to the realization of United Nations goals and mandates, including the promotion and protection of human rights, access to education, sustainability and conflict resolution.
