SECRETARY-GENERAL EXPRESSES SHOCK AT TERRORIST ATTACKS IN ROME AND VIENNA
The following statement is attributable to the Spokesman for Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar:
The Secretary-General is shocked at the news of the appalling attacks at Rome and Vienna airports, which resulted in the loss of innocent human lives. The General Assembly has unanimously and unequivocally condemned all acts, methods and practices of terrorism wherever and by whomever committed.
The Secretary-General earnestly hopes that such a unanimous position adopted by the United Nations membership will be followed up by determined efforts by all Governments and authorities concerned, in accordance with the established principles of international law, in order that all acts, methods and practices of terrorism may be brought to an end.
