Delete the third paragraph and substitute the following:
“MOSTAFA (Egypt) said he had nothing to add to the instructive statement of the representative of Lebanon, and assured the Commission of his desire to collaborate with it for the solution of the refugee problem and the other problems alike. He stressed the importance of the problem of the refugees. Their appearance and continuous increase in numbers were a result of the events that had taken place in Palestine since the end of 1947. The refugees were living without hope; they were in danger of being led away into destructive anarchy and of embracing subversive doctrines. Their slow dispersal, resulting from their humiliating conditions of life, threatened the stability of the Middle East and of the whole world and must for every reason be stopped as soon as possible.”
