UNITED NATIONS CONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR PALESTINE
GENERAL COMMITTEE
Question of the Reunion of families
(Additional information received from
Mr. Quimper by cable on 29 January 1950)
The Committee referred to (in Com.Gen.W/9) is the “Special Committee on reunion of separated families” (not to be confused with the special Committee under article eight of the Rhodes Armistice Agreement). The Committee on families was established through the MAC representatives at Mandelbaum — Major Shaul Ramati for Israel and Ahmid Elsaba for Jordan, plus a technical adviser. The Committee, which is competent to deal with all details regarding the reunion of families, has held fortnightly meetings. According to the procedure mentioned in my previous cable, lists are discussed and agreed one week and the crossing of refugees is effected the next week; the following week, other lists are discussed and so on. I shall inform the General Committee of further developments on this question.
