DRAFT CO-CHAIRS CONCLUSIONS OF THE THIRD MEETING OF THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AND THE LEAGUE OF ARAB STATES PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES
At their third meeting in Cairo on 1 December 2014, The Political and Security Committee (PSC) and the League of Arab States (LAS) Permanent Representatives Ambassadors from both the EU and the LAS exchanged views on the regional situation and Euro-Arab relations.
The PSC and the LAS Permanent Representatives Ambassadors held constructive discussions on common challenges, with a particular focus on the Palestinian Issue and the Middle East Peace Process, Syria, Iraq, Yemen Libya, Immigration, Refugees, and Counter-Terrorism.
The Chair of the EU Political and Security Committee and the President of the LAS Council of Arab Permanent Representatives affirmed that a just, comprehensive peace in the Middle East and a two-state solution, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy, are strategic objectives and vital for stability and international peace and security.
Finally, the PSC and the Arab Permanent Representatives underlined the importance of the EU-LAS cooperation to achieve common goals and welcomed the expansion of cooperation in various political, economic and developmental fields.
